Menurut Timbalan Ketua Polis Terengganu, Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman, PDRM akan menempatkan 6,000 anggotanya di Kuala Terengganu sepanjang tempoh pilihanraya kecil kuala Terengganu. He said the policemen would be stationed in Wakaf Mempelam, Ladang, Bandar and Batu Burok, which are the four state constituencies in the Kuala Terengganu parliament.
"The police are ready to maintain public order and that of their safety during the Kuala Terengganu by-election," he told reporters here today.
He said the policemen would be on duty to prevent any untoward incident, including on nomination day which is Jan 6, as well as during the campaign period and on polling day.
In a related development, Jalaluddin said police had issued a permit for PAS to hold a gathering at the State Stadium tonight where the party would announce its candidate for the Kuala Terengganu by-election.
