BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 21 — PAS has proposed that Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Rohaizat Othman and his former law firm partner Yusri Isahak to come face-to-face to explain the issue to Permatang Pasir voters.
Vice president Datuk Mahfuz Omar said PAS was willing to give them the stage so that the voters could decide who was in the right or wrong.
“We don’t disgrace people but provide proof. Permatang Pasir voters want to know the truth as it is their right to choose a good candidate.”
He denied that PAS raised the issue for politics but said it was brought up by new media like blogs and websites. Yusri claimed yesterday that he was made the scapegoat over the revocation of Rohaizat’s law practice licence.
Rohaizat, 38, is involved in a straight fight with Salleh Man, 52, of PAS in the Permatang Pasir state by-election on Aug 25.
Meanwhile, Penang PAS deputy commissioner Mujahid Yusuf Rawa denied a blog posting claiming that PAS candidate Salleh had embezzled RM600,000.
“The claim is baseless as I never said as reported. Yesterday the blog said it was RM600,000 and today it said RM60,000, which is which now?
“PAS will not hesitate to lodge a police report and take legal action against the blogger if he continues to make claims without proof,” he said.
The blog “bigdogdotcom” yesterday claimed that a Penang PAS leader said Salleh had embezzled RM600,000 during the Permatang Pauh by-election last year. It claimed that the allegation was made by Mujahid and former Penang PAS information chief Zulkifli Lazim. — Bernama
